Eco Definitions
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) - is a non-profit organization based in Bonn, Germany. The Council's stated mission is ‘to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests’. It carries out this role by certifying sustainably managed forestry operations, and then tracking their timber through the supply chain to the end product, which has earned the FSC ecolabel. This label gives consumers the chance to identify and purchase sustainable timber products over unsustainably harvested alternatives. Want to learn more....

FSC+Recycled - Follows the guideline of the FSC council as well as a high (over 50%) recycled fiber content, making it even more environmentally friendly.

VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) - Volatile organic compounds are compounds that have a high vapor pressure and low water solubility. Many VOCs are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals and refrigerants. VOCs typically are industrial solvents, such as trichloroethylene; fuel oxygenates, such as methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE); or by-products produced by chlorination in water treatment, such as chloroform. VOCs are often components of petroleum fuels, hydraulic fluids, paint thinners, and dry cleaning agents. VOCs are common ground-water contaminants.
